Hepworth Acoustics also has a well-established background in providing well-briefed and authoritative expert witnesses for Public Inquiries.
Much of the work carried out Hepworth Acoustics involves the application of current standards and prediction methodologies. Whilst each job has its own challenges, most of the time it is clear from the applicable standards what is required for the assessment. However, when the standards themselves are unclear in certain areas, there is a requirement to extend the applicability/appropriateness of the standard or there is a need to extend the knowledge base to develop new or extend current standards.
Various research projects have been carried out for private companies and local and central government since the early 1990’s. The results of these projects have been used to inform central and local government policy, European Union guidance and private business activities.
The work varies from multi-national consortia headed by Hepworth Acoustics assessing the accuracy implications for noise mapping of guidance provided in the EU Working Group on the Assessment of Exposure to Noise ‘Good Practice Guide’, to small scale assessments of the noise from different types of rebound boards at outdoor five a side football pitches.
The nationwide network of Hepworth Acoustics offices provides the resources to investigate a diverse range of noise sources, and specialist sub-contractors are brought in to assist as required. This can cover specialists in a particular acoustic specialism, foreign consultants with a specific knowledge of the application of non-UK standards, or consultants such as market research or environmental consultancy to provide the additional skills required for the project.
The careful consideration of project briefs and detailed tender proposals produced by the company means that we have an enviable record of always meeting project deadlines and staying within budget.
