 o NOISE
MAPPING ENGLAND: The latest development in Noise Mapping
in
the UK is the award of a number of contract by Defra to carry
out the work required for Noise Mapping England. These contracts
are to map road traffic noise levels in the major urban agglomerations
and along main trunk roads and motorways in England.
Hepworth Acoustics, working with ENTEC, have been awarded
the noise mapping contracts for Merseyside and Manchester.
o EUROPEAN NOISE DIRECTIVE INTO UK LAW: The
English government and the devolved administrations of Northern
Ireland,
Scotland
and Wales are in the process of developing the necessary legislation
to transpose the END into UK law. Public consultation on these
proposals was carried out in 2005.
o WG-AEN GUIDANCE ON NOISE MAPPING: The Working
Group for the Assessment of environmental noise (WG-AEN) is
about to publish
its revised good practice tool kit for noise mapping. This
document will draw on research carried out by Hepworth Acoustics
for Defra on behalf of the working group.
