on noise nuisance. The government body responsible for the
control of noise is the Department for the Environment, Food
and Rural Affairs, and within Defra, the Noise and Nuisance
Policy Team. This body is responsible for:
• Developing policy on neighbourhood
noise
• Developing policy on ambient noise
• Negotiating on and implementing EU environmental noise legislation
• Managing noise research
• Disseminating information on how to avoid causing a noise nuisance
and on what to do if you are affected by noise nuisance
